Shoulder Stretches
In certain shoulder conditions, the capsule (lining) of the shoulder joint can become tight. This can lead to problems inside the joint, including pain. In these cases, stretching of the capsule can be very helpful. The best way to do these stretches is to see an experienced physiotherapist who can go through the stretches with you. Alternatively, you can watch these videos can do the stretches yourself at home. Be careful to do the stretches exactly as they are shown in the videos. Do NOT push too hard - only until you feel a gentle stretch. It is much more important to do them gently over a number of weeks rather than to try to achieve quick results. If you experience any prolonged pain you have probably pushed too hard. You should then rest and only recommence the stretches when the pain has settled.
You should try to do these stretches 5 times each session and repeat this 3 times a day. You should decrease this if it causes any prolonged discomfort.
